This data vis shows the percentage of presenters at DrupalCons who are women.
Developing the idea
The idea came from a Tweet request that webchick put out there, asking for someone to update the DrupalCon statistics for the Drupalchix group. I wrote a scraper using scraperwiki.com to find the Drupal.org profiles of presenters and check those for gender. Since some members (including myself, it turns out) don't list their gender, I did still have to manually look up some people, but I think the scraper still saves quite a bit of time.

Using the capitolwords API and Tagadelic's API, I created Out of the Mouths of Republican Candidates, a tag cloud of words most frequently said by the Republican primary candidates. Each word links to the corresponding page on capitolwords, which gives some really interesting information about who else uses the word, it's use over time, and other statistics.
